BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES

Al Muftah Contracting Division is based at  Almuftah Centre. Al Sadd Streat.

The company is part of the Al Muftah Group; The company undertakes EPIC Projects, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation Projects, Plant Shutdowns & Maintenance Contracts in the fields of Oil & Gas Industry, Petrochemical Complexes, Fertilizers and Steel Plants.

The Company has established a well maintained Plant & Stores Yard at Salwa on the outskirts of Doha, conveniently situated to service all activities of the division. Also situated on these premises are work shops and storage facilities.

TYPES OF CONTRACTS UNDERTAKEN

EPIC Projects - The services offered by the company will include full responsibility for all elements of design and construction working towards the clients brief. These services would depend on the timing of the appointment. i.e. at the concept stage or later. Normally the appointment would include full responsibility for all elements of Design, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning working towards on agreed brief. Designs are usually accomplished by appointed Design Team or those nominated by the Customer. Some of the Design Teams Al Muftah has been associated with are Pencol, Granherne, Enereco, Energo Projekt, Qatar Design Consortium, Arab Architects, Hi-Tech Consultants, GHD etc.

Al Muftah Contracting has accomplished major EPIC projects for notable Clients like Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Steel Company, Qatar Fertilizer Company and Qatar Gas etc.

Some of the EPIC projects completed by Al Muftah Contracting are as follows:

  • Methanol Injection Skid at Ras Laffan for Qatar Gas – 1998.
  • GRP Pipe works at Mesaieed for QAFCO – 1999.
  • New Nitrogen Plant at Mesaieed for Qatar Petroleum – 1999.
  • New Air Separation Plant at Mesaieed for Qatar Steel Company – 1999.

CIVIl

Civil Engineering & Building Works – Works include infrastructure facilities, road construction, construction of sewage system, marine projects, running tracks, sports facilities, tank foundations, pipe sleepers & supports, fencing, plumbing & fire fighting installations. Building works includes offices, commercial buildings, villas, steel buildings such as workshops, air craft hangers, car parking shade etc.

Civil Engineering works also include industrial earthwork projects, site grading, renovation of buildings & demolition works.

The services offered by Al Muftah Contracting includes delivering of the project from its initial definition to final handover of the facility. The services also includes preparation of Estimation, Pricing, Scheduling & Organizing activities for construction.

  • Boys & Girls school at Madinat Al Shamal for Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Agriculture – 1995.
  • Construction of sports facilities, camp facilities, jobsite temporary facilities, upstream camp construction at Ras Laffan for M/S Chiyoda Corporation, Japan – 1995.
  • Labour camp construction, erection of sea-water desalination plant at Ras Laffan for M/S Ras Laffan Dredging, J.V.Doha – 1992.

Mechanical

Mechanical Projects - Includes erection of heavy equipment for process plants (with static & dynamic), fabrication & erection of heavy structural associated with process plant equipment, light and medium structural both fabrication & erection, erection and assembling of tower / column internals, loading and unloading of demisters, rushing rings, catalysts etc. They also include shop and field fabrication of piping, structural, supports, equipments, complete installation of petroleumTop and industrial plant pipelines, process industries, pumping stations, waste water & sewage piping, irrigation & water piping.

Cathodic Protection – Includes installation of anodes, reference electrodes, test stations & cables for cathodic systems.

Corrosion Protection – Includes scaffolding, sandblasting and painting services including wet blasting & critical coating applications, including external & internal coating of tanks.

Cold Cutting – Cold cutting of CS/AS & SS Pipelines

Bolt Tensioning & Torqueing- Includes for various sizes of bolts for pipe lines and equipments

Industrial O & M Services – Retubing & refurbishment of heat exchangers, air coders, process fired heaters, hydro jetting & vaccum tanker services including sewer line maintenance, clearing of reactors, column, tanks, heat exchangers etc.

Shutdown

Plant Shutdown Works – Includes refineries, petrochemical Process Plants and Fertilizers steel industries.

  • Revamping work for NODCO Refinery Expansion Project at Mesaieed for LG Engineering – 2000.
  • Maintenance works for condensate storage tanks & desludging at Mesaieed for Qatar Petroleum – 2000.
  • Construction of Sea water line for QASCO – 1999.
  • Fabrication, Installation of Sea water line to New Air Separation Plant for QASCO – 1999.

  • Plant shutdown works at various degassing at Dukhan for Qatar Petroleum – 2002.
  • Plant shutdown works at Khuff T/G station for Qatar Petroleum – 2002.
  • Turn around shutdown for refinery No. 1 & 2 for Qatar Petroleum – 2001.
  • Shutdown Khuff ‘A’, ‘B’ & PW 5 for Qatar Petroleum – 2001.
  • Turn around shutdown for refinery No. 1 & 2 for NODCO – 2001
  • Plant shutdown works at fahahil north field gas re-injection station in the Dukhan fields for Qatar Petroleum – 2000.
  • Plant shutdown work at Khuff Plants at Fahahil area at Dukhan for Qatar Petroleum – 2000.
  • Plant shutdown works at Khuff H/L plants, Point ‘U’ PWI stations PS7, PS8 and PS9 in the Dukhan Fields for Qatar Petroleum – 2000.

Electrical

Electrical & Instrumentation – Electrical construction work includes electrical substations, installation of switchgear, UPS, transformers, cabling, wiring, lighting (both external & internal), conduiting, installation of generators, fuel tanks etc.

Instrumentation construction work includes industrial instrumentation, HVAC system, switchgear control system, pneumatic control piping etc.

The company also undertakes HVAC installation right upto the commissioning of the system.

Maintenance

Maintenance Services – Based on the clients requirements, the company undertakes maintenance service pertaining to civil, mechanical, electrical works either on a call off basis or a pre-determined schedule.

In addition to the above, the company leases technical / skilled manpower & various construction equipment for long and short term basis for projects such as plant shutdown, site development, buildings, routine plant operations and maintenance activities.
